DESIGN, INTERACTION AND SYNTHESIS OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE COMPOUNDS (DISCOBAC)
Area of chronic diseases and cancer
Objectives and lines of research
– The synthesis, interaction and antitumor biological activity studies of compounds with potential applications in cancer treatment.
– The study of new synthetic compounds and/or products of natural origin for the treatment of age-related neurodegenerative diseases.
SPECIFIC:
– Preparation of multifunctional molecules based on carbohydrate or oligonucleotide conjugates for potential use as antitumor agents.
– Synthesis and interaction of selective G-quadruplex DNA ligands.
– Design and synthesis of biologically active metal compounds and structure-activity relationship study.
– Nanotechnology for drug delivery and biosensorics.
– Anticancer effects of growing deer antler extract.
– Design and synthesis of novel multi-diane small molecules with therapeutic efficacy for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
– Design and synthesis of new multipotent molecules with neuroprotective and antioxidant capacity for the combined treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and cerebral ischemia.
– Modeling and rational design of antiviral agents against SARS-CoV-2.
– Design and synthesis of photocages for drug encapsulation.
