HUMAN NEUROANATOMY LABORATORY
Neuroscience area
Objectives and lines of research
– Neuroanatomy of the human medial temporal lobe (MTL) through post-mortem studies with the application of immunohistochemical criteria to determine possible changes that take place in this region throughout normal and pathological physiological physiological aging, focusing specifically on diseases with cognitive impairment.
– Human studies of neuroradiological and neuropsychological characterization of cognitive impairment associated with LTM lesions at all ages, including normal and pathological aging.
– From an experimental approach, study of the comparative anatomy of the homologous regions of the LTM in other species under normal and impaired learning conditions (in macaque and murine models).
