MOLECULAR NEUROLOGY
Neuroscience area
Objectives and lines of research
– Determine the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neural damage and develop new reparative therapies with translational potential.
– Development of tools that allow for tailored administration of pharmacological, molecular or cellular treatments found to be effective for each type of pathology.
– Development of new prostheses that favor the regeneration of damaged peripheral nerves.
– Development of new therapies based on drugs currently used in clinical practice, such as leptin with important interactions with the Wnt protein family.
– Development of Wnt therapies based on protein engineering and recombinant biomaterials, allowing specific biological effects and versatility in the routes of administration.
– Identify new therapeutic targets and develop combination therapies to induce neuroprotection and promote neural repair.
